LiDAR sensors for businesses
Laser scanners that capture the surroundings as a precise 3D point cloud.
The hardware advisor asks about your goal, size and budget and suggests matching hardware and software. Requests are free and without obligation.
About the category
What it is and what it is for
LiDAR sensors use laser pulses to measure the distance to a very large number of points and build a 3D image of the surroundings. Robots and vehicles use them for orientation and obstacle detection; in surveying, they produce digital models of buildings and facilities. Unlike cameras, they work largely independently of ambient light.
Typical uses in business
- Navigation and personnel protection for AMRs and mobile robots.
- Capturing halls, buildings and facilities in 3D (scan-to-BIM).
- Measuring bulk material volumes and stock levels.
- Traffic and people counting, zone monitoring.
What businesses should check before buying
- Range, field of view and point density to suit the task.
- Accuracy and behaviour in rain, dust or on reflective surfaces.
- Safety certification if the sensor is meant to protect people.
- Drivers, ROS 2 support, interfaces and laser class.
Integration & effortEffort: medium
The sensor is quickly mounted; the effort lies in calibration, time synchronisation with other sensors and the software that turns point clouds into decisions or models. Safety functions are subject to their own standards and acceptance tests.

FAQ
Questions about LiDAR sensors
- How much do products in “LiDAR sensors” cost?
- 1 of the 13 products in this category in the OROBO catalogue has a public guide price: from approx. €890. These are rounded entry prices according to the manufacturers, excluding VAT, shipping and duties. The others are available on request only. Only the seller’s quote is binding.
- Which manufacturers does OROBO list for “LiDAR sensors”?
- In this category OROBO lists 5 manufacturers from 3 countries: China (3), Germany (1), United States (1). In the catalogue: Hesai Technology, Livox, Ouster, RoboSense, SICK. OROBO currently has no partner agreement with any of these manufacturers — listed does not mean partner.
- Does OROBO sell these products itself?
- No. OROBO brokers and does not sell anything itself. We check your need and intended use, screen buyer and seller against the EU and US sanctions lists and obtain the quote from the manufacturer or its dealer. Contract, payment, delivery and warranty run directly between you and the seller. Brokering is free for you; for now we broker for buyers in the EU, the EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
- What does OROBO need for a request?
- Quantity, goal and timing — and a budget if you know it. The hardware advisor helps you find the right class of hardware in a few steps. Requests are free and without obligation; your contact details only go to the seller with your consent.
- Do export rules apply?
- Export rules may apply to products from 2 of the 5 manufacturers in this category. Before every referral we screen buyer and seller against the EU and US sanctions lists and ask about the intended use; export licences are the seller’s responsibility.
