Compute is getting more expensive again: GPU rentals and memory prices

After years of falling prices, H100 rental rates are higher again at several providers, and memory stays scarce — 2027 budgets should account for it.
The essentials in four points
- In October 2026, an H100 GPU cost between about USD 2 and USD 12 per hour depending on the provider; hyperscalers sit at the top, specialist providers at the bottom.
- Several providers are above earlier levels: Lambda at USD 3.99 instead of 2.99 per GPU hour, Nebius at 4.50 instead of 3.85, AWS Capacity Blocks at 5.97 instead of 5.19.
- Blackwell GPUs are available to rent but cost markedly more: B200 from about USD 6.69 per hour at Lambda, B300 at USD 9.50 at Nebius.
- TrendForce expects contract prices to keep rising in Q4 2026: up 10–15% for conventional DRAM and up 15–20% for NAND flash quarter on quarter, driven by AI servers.
What this means for businesses
If you rent compute, stop extrapolating falling prices: compare several providers and weigh reserved terms against on-demand. If you buy, expect higher prices for server memory and SSDs — this also affects on-premise projects for private AI.
