Compute is getting more expensive again: GPU rentals and memory prices

AI · not reviewedWritten with AI from the sources listed, not yet editorially reviewed.

After years of falling prices, H100 rental rates are higher again at several providers, and memory stays scarce — 2027 budgets should account for it.

The essentials in four points

  1. In October 2026, an H100 GPU cost between about USD 2 and USD 12 per hour depending on the provider; hyperscalers sit at the top, specialist providers at the bottom.
  2. Several providers are above earlier levels: Lambda at USD 3.99 instead of 2.99 per GPU hour, Nebius at 4.50 instead of 3.85, AWS Capacity Blocks at 5.97 instead of 5.19.
  3. Blackwell GPUs are available to rent but cost markedly more: B200 from about USD 6.69 per hour at Lambda, B300 at USD 9.50 at Nebius.
  4. TrendForce expects contract prices to keep rising in Q4 2026: up 10–15% for conventional DRAM and up 15–20% for NAND flash quarter on quarter, driven by AI servers.

What this means for businesses

If you rent compute, stop extrapolating falling prices: compare several providers and weigh reserved terms against on-demand. If you buy, expect higher prices for server memory and SSDs — this also affects on-premise projects for private AI.
