How OROBO makes money
As of 4 November 2026
The German version of this page is legally binding.
Every source of income for OROBO is listed here — along with what is never for sale. OROBO is run by Oroboros Design, the sole proprietorship of Daouda Ndiaye in Cologne.
What OROBO earns from
In short: OROBO earns from referrals and from its own services. OROBO does not sell third-party software or hardware in its own name.
Software partner programmes
Some makers pay a commission when a subscription comes about through OROBO (partner or affiliate programme). Such links are labelled “Ad” right at the button, the work carries the label “Partner” on cards, and the link is marked as paid for search engines (rel="sponsored"). It costs you nothing extra; the maker sets the price. Open-source works always lead to the project’s official source — with no commission and no copy on OROBO servers.
Not active yetAs of today, no partner link is active. No link to a maker earns OROBO any money.
Setup and fixed-price services
On every software page, businesses can request setup of that software. Oroboros Design sends an offer after the business request. Fixed prices apply to the AI Compass (€490) and the research briefing (€990), for businesses only (terms § 6a). The contracting party is Oroboros Design. As a small business (§ 19 UStG), no VAT is charged. Whoever has something set up gets the tools that fit the goal — whether or not there is a partner programme for them.
Hardware and robotics referrals
OROBO does not sell hardware and does not accept payments for goods. If a purchase from the maker or its dealer comes about through OROBO, the seller pays a commission, expected to be between 1 and 10% of the net price depending on the product group. The seller sets the price; referrals are free for buyers. On request, we tell you whether a commission has been agreed and how much it is (terms § 6b). As of today, OROBO has no partner agreement yet.
Fees on sales through the OROBO checkout
4% of the price when the buyer comes via the member’s OROBO link, 7% otherwise. Stripe’s payment fee is added at cost, usually 1.5% + €0.25 for standard EEA cards. OROBO earns nothing on it.
Not active yetThe OROBO checkout for member sales is not switched on yet. Until then, members sell with their own payment link, with no OROBO fee.
Exception: for the first 100 members whose first work goes live verified, no OROBO fee applies for 90 days from when their sales are switched on (terms § 9a).
Spotlight
€19 for 7 days. A work appears in a separate slot above the results, clearly labelled “Ad”. Spotlight changes neither the order nor the trust score and never appears in Angel’s recommendations or in packages.
AvailableFor your own software, on its software page.
Deep audit
€149. A manual audit with a written report within 5 business days. The seal is only awarded if the audit is passed.
AvailableFor your own software, on its software page.
Offers by OROBO itself
Oroboros Design, the operator of OROBO, offers its own works and services here. They are labelled “By OROBO itself”. When you buy one, Oroboros Design is your contractual partner, and OROBO earns from it. No OROBO fee applies to the operator’s own works. They are not favoured in the ranking, and in packages they never appear without an independent alternative. Rules for operator offers
No preference in the ranking
Commissions — from software makers and hardware sellers alike — play no part in the order, the trust score, Angel’s recommendations or packages. A work with a partner link sits exactly where it would sit without one. If a better tool for a goal has no partner programme, OROBO recommends the better tool.
What OROBO earns nothing from
- Links to makers not labelled “Ad”. Going from OROBO to a maker’s website earns OROBO nothing. These links carry at most a referral tag (utm_source=orobo), never a partner code.
- Open-source downloads. “Get it via OROBO” leads to the project’s official source. OROBO checks the source, charges nothing for it and receives nothing from the project.
- Referrer shares (“Share & earn”). Members can set a share of up to 50% for referrers on sales through the OROBO checkout. It goes to the person whose link the purchase came through, not to OROBO. It runs through the OROBO checkout and is therefore not active yet.
- Listing. Listing works is free, as many as you like. There is no subscription and no setup fee.
- Money from investors: OROBO accepts none as long as there is no company (Investing in OROBO).
What is never for sale
These things cannot be bought — neither through Spotlight nor through a partner programme nor through any other payment:
- Angel’s recommendations
- Order and rank — in search, in the areas and in packages
- Trust score and check results. Paying for a deep audit pays for the audit, not for the result.
- Inclusion in an OROBO Report
