About the category

What it is

Quadruped robots can also handle stairs, thresholds and uneven ground where wheels reach their limits. Equipped with cameras, thermal, gas or acoustic sensors, they take over recurring inspection rounds in facilities. Smaller models serve as open platforms for research and teaching.

What companies use them for

  • Inspection rounds in chemicals, energy and utilities: reading gauges, detecting leaks and heat.
  • Documenting and surveying construction sites and buildings.
  • Missions in areas that are dangerous for people.
  • Research on locomotion and robot learning.

What to look for when buying

  1. Payload and connectors for sensors, runtime per battery charge.
  2. Ingress protection and approval for the environment, e.g. dust, water or explosive atmospheres.
  3. Autonomy: learning routes, self-docking, integration with the control room or maintenance.
  4. For research: SDK, ROS 2 and a simulation model.

Integration & effortEffort: medium

Routes are taught once, after which the robot runs them on its own. Effort comes from feeding readings into maintenance or the control room, Wi-Fi or mobile coverage on site and, where needed, explosion protection. Research platforms need their own programming.

Simulation

How it runs in your operation

A simplified, typical sequence — not a recording of a real deployment.

  1. Define checkpoints and measurement tasks once.

  2. The robot walks the round, including stairs.

  3. Record gauges, temperature, noise and gas.

  4. Deviations go straight to the control room or maintenance.

Brokering

How brokering works

  1. 01Request

Add the product to your request and tell us quantity, goal and timing. Free and without obligation.

  2. 02OROBO checks and obtains the quote

We check your need and intended use, screen buyer and seller against EU and US sanctions lists and obtain the quote from the manufacturer or its dealer. Your contact details only go to the seller with your consent.

  3. 03You buy directly from the manufacturer or its dealer

Contract, payment, delivery and warranty run directly between you and the seller. OROBO is neither seller nor importer and does not accept payments for goods.

Free for you: the seller alone sets the price. OROBO may receive a commission from the seller — on request we tell you whether and how much; it influences neither recommendations nor order. For now we broker for buyers in the EU, the EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Terms § 6b · Disclosure
